“Note: Dedication Day: US Market Closed on Monday

On Monday, May 29, the US securities exchange will be closed for trading in observance of Memorial Day. The US bond market will also be closed on this day.

The next US stock market holiday will be on June 19, 2023, for Juneteenth.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May each year. Its purpose is to honor and mourn the loss of US military personnel who died while serving in the US Military.

Memorial Day was designated as a national holiday by an act of Congress in 1971. The day serves as a way to set aside time to honor the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to America.

In addition to Wall Street, most banks and financial institutions will also remain closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

All US government offices, US Postal Services, and other major courier services such as FedEx and UPS will be closed on Memorial Day.

On Friday, the US stock market closed higher due to progress in the US debt ceiling talks and a rally in chip stocks fueled by confidence in artificial intelligence.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 1% to 33,093.34, while the S&P 500 gained 1.30% to close at 4,205.45. The tech-heavy Nasdaq surged 2.19% to end at 12,975.69.”
